In Urbana, family-run Italian places are busiest on weekend evenings and around holidays, when reservations or call-ahead seating are worth it. BYOB is common at smaller restaurants in some states, with a modest corkage fee or none at all; the listing or a quick call will tell you. Wing-and-pizza shops across Illinois do most of their business by delivery and price wings by the piece or in fixed counts, with sauce heat adjustable on request. Catering trays, party pizzas and sheet pies need a day's notice at most places, and more around big game days.

I visited BakeLab located inside the Yugo apartment lobby and had a really good overall experience. The space is cozy and well set up, with a mix of tables, booths, and additional seating throughout the lobby, plus outdoor seating. It’s a great spot for both relaxing and getting work done—there’s free Wi-Fi, plenty of outlets for charging, and I noticed a lot of people working while I was there. It was fairly calm around 9 AM on a Saturday but started to get busier by around 10:30. It’s also pet-friendly, which was a nice touch—I saw a couple of dogs and it didn’t feel disruptive at all. The staff were very sweet, friendly, and accommodating. Even though the banana chai wasn’t listed on the menu at this location, they were happy to make it. I tried it both hot and iced (both come with an oat milk base). The flavor was good overall, though the iced version leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was quick since it wasn’t too busy when we arrived—both drinks came out in under 5 minutes. The space was also pretty clean. One thing to note is that the space can get a bit noisy due to an echo, especially as it fills up. It didn’t bother me too much, but if you’re looking for a v

One of the best bakeries on campus. Now they have “Matcha madness” where you can try some unique matcha combinations. I tired Mango Gone Wild. It tasted delicious, but I wish they have more mango flavor there 🥹

Needed some pastry-fueled energy to complete our roadtrip and BakeLab did not disappoint. Ordered a few danishes, croissants, and cruffins to-go; these were right up there with some of the well-known bakeries I’ve been to around the US and abroad. The indoor/outdoor seating seemed like a nice atmosphere for students to study or remote workers to grab a table. The bakery was clean, and the staff very pleasant. We were able to find a parking spot on the side street, which I am sure becomes more difficult when school is in session. Thank you, BakeLab!

The little coffee shop is inside a hotel lobby but it's a hidden gem. I was a bit skeptical to be honest but as soon as I viewed the pastry display all my doubts faded away. The only hard part was what to order. I ordered a banofee croissant and a candied orange mocha iced coffee. My daughter had the same drink as I did and she had a fig croissant along with another savory croissant. We were very pleased with all our items. The croissants were soft and buttery and the flavors were amazing. My sweet treat was outstanding. I had we never had a banofee but after this I will be having more! Overall, the staff were attentive and helpful at helping us make our choices. The overall atmosphere of the shop was quaint and relaxing. I recommend going here if you are in Champaign you can't go wrong. The prices are fair and the quality of the food is well worth the cost. They offered season drinks which we can't wait to see what they offer for winter season.

Amazing bakery with spectacular croissants. Stopped by here to get a snack and was not disappointed. The croissants were buttery and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The little cafe was well maintained and clean. Prices seemed decent for the area and the vibe of the place. Overall great bakery.
